OD-002-2006 VOMEPOTRO "Zombie Gore Vomit"

Auch mit ihrem zweiten Output haben die Macher von Obscure Domain Records wieder eindeutig ins Schwarze getroffen. Die Brasilianer von VOMEPOTRO manövrieren sich zielsicher durch die zehn Songs ihres mit „Zombie Gore Vomit“ betitelten Debüts und lassen es dabei heftigst krachen. Diese infernalische Horde kann man auch nicht gerade als Anfänger bezeichnen, treibt man doch schon seit 1996 sein Unwesen und krönt somit das Bandjubiläum mit einer mächtigen Breitseite brutalen Old School Metals. Markenzeichen dieses Quartetts sind die erstklassigen, eingängigen und dennoch technisch vorzüglich shreddenden Riffs, die unwahrscheinlich Druck nach vorne machen. Vorwiegend im mittleren bis moderaten Uptempo Bereich angesiedelt wetzen unsere Freunde durch die mit Zombies gepflasterte Landschaft, dass es eine wahre Pracht ist und animieren die geneigte Hörerschaft ständig zum Headbangen. Hervorzuheben sind meiner Meinung nach auch die brillanten Leads/Harmonien, die sozusagen das i-Tüpfelchen des Ganzen sind und perfekt zu dem knallharten Sound dieser Brutalos passen. Als Top sind auch die ultratiefen Vokals zu bezeichnen, die mit einer Portion im Guttural Stil verfeinert wurden. Killer! Die Produktion der Scheibe finde ich zudem äußerst gelungen, sie ist authentisch und lässt die gute alte Früh 90er/Mitte 90er Zeit wieder aufleben. Zusätzlich wurde die Scheibe noch mit einem richtig urigen Gore Cover ausgestattet, was das mehr als positive Gesamtbild abrundet. Anhänger der alten Schule können sich das Teil auf alle Fälle abgreifen und Fans soliden Death Metals sollten „Zombie Gore Vomit“ durchaus einmal antesten. Daumen hoch!

Brazilian death metallers Vomepotro appear heavily influenced by Cannibal Corpse around Butchered at Birth and Tomb of the Mutilated, but I wouldn't say the band sound anything like a clone, however the similarities are definitely there. The debut Zombie Gore Vomit is a slap of brutal death metal. The band doesn't try any new tricks whatsoever, but go for the familiar style which is just fine with me. The songs are fairly varied, but mostly kept in the faster end without ever being ultra fast. Vomepotro do slow things down a little at times which again add life to the music and leave room for the heavier parts. The vocals are of course deep and guttural as they should be in this kind of death metal.

Moreover the band throws in a solo or two here and there. It colours the soundscape further as do the naked bass lines and samples that occur once or twice during Zombie Gore Vomit. The vocals appear a little too much upfront in the soundscape, but besides that there's really not much to complain about. Zombie Gore Vomit may sound like a million other death metal albums, but it doesn't make it any less good. If you like your death metal brutal and in the vein of old Cannibal Corpse then Zombie Gore Vomit is hard to avoid.

Die zweite VÖ des neuen Labes werden die Brasilianer vom VOMEPOTRO sein, die im direkten Vergleich mit FETOCIDE sofort gleichziehen. VOMEPOTRO sind etas schneller, etwas goriger und klingen dabei etwas wie MONSTROSITY, CANNIBAL CORPSE, VITAL REMAINS und NEPHASTH auch wenn der Vergleich etwas hinkt. Dient ja auch nur, na ihr wisst schon. VOMEPORTO schein es schon etwas länger zu geben wenn man sich die Discographie der vier mal so ansieht: Beginnend bei 1998 was man auch hört. Das hier sind keine Stümper die seit gestern mal `ne Gitarre halten können. Hier wirkt alles geschlossen und mit Plan durchgezogen. Sollte man auch im Auge behalten. Was das neue OBSCURE DOMAIN Label angeht: Hier sind zwei am Werk, die Ahnung haben und uns (bis jetzt) keinen Müll und keine Treendpussies vorsetzten. Hausaufgaben gut gemacht!

An eerie / atmospheric melody played by a pulsing analogue synthesizer as it is know from the scores of many certain Italian, Spanish and Brazilian movies, the album title, the band name… yes! Gore time! Cannibals are allowed as well, for that matter. These four putrid vomit zombies from Brazil have released their debut album after ten years of existence and several demos. Unlike many of their country mates, they do not sound a bit like KRISIUN. On the contrary, VOMEPOTRO walk the way of guts and gore in a way that resembles early DEEDS OF FLESH and Barnes era CANNIBAL CORPSE in the style of the relentless and catchy riffing. The great and harmonious leads are a perfect additional facet to the sound – thumbs up! The very deep vocals which verge on the ultra guttural are the most contemporary element one can find on “Zombie Gore Vomit”. Despite being not innovative a single bit (not that I care about that anyway) the album proved to grow on me as the songs are all well structured pieces of brutal mid-nineties Death Metal with so many catchy riffs, a fair bit of grinding which is not absurdly fast, headbang - provoking passages and breakdowns topped by skilled leads and solos so this shrivelled clump of filth oozes flair, definitely. Somehow I am reminded on the german GOMORRHA who go in a similar direction. Soundwise one can't complain as well. The production is relatively clear and on par with the “standards”. The cover of “Zombie Gore Vomit” will surely be appreciated by all fans of gory dark I might add…The song 'Aborted Fetus' as well as some tracks off their demos can be found on VOMEPOTRO's homapage at: www.vomepotro.pop.com.br. Another disc from the awesome German label Obscure Domain productions. (thanks Hacker, for the cool cd's and bios!) This band here is from Sao Paulo/Brazil. These guys have been around for 10 years and have upped the ante here with this new release. When I heard they were from Brazil and saw they have been recorded by the same dude who recorded Krisiun, Abhorrence, and Funeratus...I was expecting to hear that same traditional style. Which isn't bad of course! I was very pleased to hear something different though. These guys have that same unreal relentlessness in the drumming, but these guys are more brutal!

To break it down for you real easy, they are a mix of Deeds Of Flesh and Gorgasm! Fucking killer solos too, which usually comes from Brazil. They have some cool breaks that sound very fresh and original, which is exactly what this style of technical death metal needs. It's what I always wish so fucking many bands of this style would do. Put some stuff you can really bang your head to in there! Fuck yeah they do.

Tracks are: Sacrifice Bloody Cult, Worms Devour My Flesh, Violating The Dead, Aborted Fetus, The Head Smasher, Mortal Fetish (Mutilation), Rotting Alive, Necrodemented, Sucking Umbilical Cord, Drum Solo. It's good to see some sick humor. Not exactly the most original titles, but it's brutal and that's what matters here haha!
